This year, Notre Dame de Paris is celebrating her 850th birthday. France24 put together a wonderful video outlining the history of the cathedral and the birthday celebrations, including the behind-the-scenes work.
To commemorate her 850, Notre Dame is receiving a new set of bells, in addition to other major and minor renovations.
One change that you cannot miss: for the year-long celebration only, stadium seating has been erected so you can sit and gaze at the cathedral’s facade. I highly recommend making the visit, especially at night when the facade is illuminated.
